Vicarious visits was the theme of the January 22 episode of Discover Oklahoma. It featured locations where you can change your identity for a day. For the first visit host Jenifer Reynolds told viewers to "don you hat and your gloves, and your best table manners," as A Spot For Tea is featured.
Narrated by Ron Stahl, the segment featured owner Tammy Seibert hosting one of our Dress-Me-Up Victorian Tea Parties for girls of all ages. As the audience watches the party unfold, Ron Stahl explains some of what is included in a tea party like the three-dimensional teapot shaped cake, a favorite of many party goers.
The segment concludes with a discussion on tea and its nuances. Tammy points out that, "Tea in itself is a ritual. It takes time to have a cup of tea." She reminds viewers that the slow pace of tea is how it differs from the fast pace most people associate with coffee.
As a final etiquette lesson Ron asks the "expert" Tammy the all important pinky question. She tells viewers the correct way to hold a tea cup is to rest the fingers on the cup and that the pinky is never held up. Then viewers leave the tearoom with Ron reminding all to "practice the pinky thing."
